In Charlotte, popular practices book routine cleanings weeks ahead, so call early or ask to be put on a cancellation list; emergency and walk-in clinics are the exception. Across North Carolina, a new-patient exam with X-rays and a cleaning typically runs from about $150 to $350 without insurance, and many offices publish new-patient specials on their websites. Check the listing for hours, whether the office takes your insurance or Medicaid, languages spoken, wheelchair access and parking, then confirm by phone: insurance networks and providers change more often than the listings do.
Hours are published for 4 days a week. On most of those days it is open 8:30 amβ5 pm. Note that it does not open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Charlotte is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Charlotte is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I don't think I'll ever be able to write a truly concise review about all the wonderful things this office has done for my mom, but I'll try. I've been my mom's translator for her dental appointments for years. She has had a very long and difficult dental journey that left her incredibly distrustful of dentists and eventually, almost completely hopeless about her smile. Anyone who knows my mom knows she's one of the most talkative, bubbly, and outgoing people you could ever meet. She's the person who throws the parties, talks for hours, dances in an empty dance floor, and never hesitates to strike up a conversation with a stranger. But over the years, losing her teeth changed her. She became shy and withdrawn. She stopped wanting to go places, avoided social interactions, and would cover her mouth whenever she laughed or spoke. Watching that happen to someone who had always been so full of life broke my heart. When we first came to Carolina Dentistry, I honestly wasn't sure we'd ever get to this point. My mom was nervous, hesitant, and convinced that there was nothing that could be done for her. But from the very beginning, everyone here treated her with so much patience, kindness,

Disorganized experience from the moment I arrived. The front desk employee came across as passive aggressive and was unwilling to make the effort to call Blue Shield to verify my dental insurance, even though that should have been a straightforward process. I had provided them with my dental insurance information a week prior to the appointment so there was also no reason for them to wait until my appointment time to verify it. I had to call Blue Shield myself and they immediately faxed the insurance verification to the dental office. Even though it was a morning appointment, they were running 25 minutes behind schedule with no communication about the delay. After my appointment was supposed to begin, they informed me that they planned to bill more than $300 for a "new patient exam." They said my insurance would not cover it because my plan covers regular dental exams, not the type of exam they intended to bill for. When I asked how much this exam would cost, they couldn't tell me. It took them another 15 minutes to figure out the price which seems like it would be a simple thing. Between the inability to verify my insurance, the confusion about billing, the significant delay, an

I recently visited this dental office and couldn't be more impressed. The entire staff was professional, warm, and welcoming from the moment I walked in. They were efficient, thorough, asked great questions, and kept me informed throughout the whole visit. I live 20 minutes away with plenty of dental options closer to me, but I will absolutely keep making the drive. After a few years in Charlotte, I've finally found my dentist β and anyone who's been through that search knows how hard it is to find a good one. Highly recommend!
